New build now available for Fast ring insiders

Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 preview build for users in the Fast ring, who already run early versions of the update due in April 2020.

Windows 10 build 18894 introduces a new search experience in File Explorer, which is now powered by Windows Search.

Users are thus provided with search results as they type, just like it happens when using the search feature integrated into Windows 10 overall.

Additionally, this new build comes with a bunch of accessibility improvements, with the Narrator now being more efficient when reading tables and featuring a new command to generate a webpage summary.

“Header information is not repeated when navigating within the same row or column. Entering and exiting tables is also less verbose. There’s a new command in Narrator to give a webpage summary! (Narrator + S). Currently this command will give information about hyperlinks, landmarks and headings,” Microsoft explains.

One new known issue

The Windows Magnifier also comes with a new ability to keep the text cursor in the center of the screen, and this feature comes on by default but can be disabled from the settings screen.

There are also several other fixes, which you can read in full in the box after the jump, but it’s worth knowing that this build fixes scrolling issues with the mouse wheel or touchpad. This bug was experienced in the last few preview builds for Windows 10 build 18894.

And needless to say, this new release ships with a handful of known issues too, including the Your Phone app which no longer works in this build. The glitch is limited to users in the Fast ring, so if you’re running a build as part of any other Insider ring, you should be fine.

You can download the new build right now from Settings > Windows Update.
