Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 19H1 preview build for Fast ring insiders, and the changelog includes lots of new features and changes to the overall experience with the OS.

First and foremost, Windows 10 build 18298 brings refinements to the Settings app in order to provide a more straightforward approach for sign-in options. You can now set up security keys in Windows 10 from the Settings app in Accounts > Sign-in options.

There are also improvements for File Explorer, though they aren’t exactly what you hoped. This new build introduces a new icon specifically tweaked to look better with the light time that’s part of Windows 10 19H1.

Microsoft also announced changes to the default downloads folder, as Microsoft introduces new sorting options in this build.

“More often than not, when you download a file, you don’t change the name before downloading it. Because of that, the names aren’t always very memorable (cake_134_small_red.jpg anyone?). This makes sorting by name less optimal since it’s hard to find the file you’re looking for, so we’re updating the default sorting to show the most recently downloaded file at the top of the list instead,” Microsoft explains.

Hello, Narrator Home

Additionally, we're getting new Start menu improvements to quick unpin groups and folders, as well as touch keyboard refinements with improved accuracy. Notepad is refreshed with a bunch of new features too, including a modified indicator with an asterisk in the title bar to show when there are unsaved changes, but also an option to send feedback from the Help menu section.

Narrator is getting its own share of updates in this build, and the most important is the addition of a Narrator Home screen that lets you access all the options for this feature. This should make the experience with Narrator overall more straightforward, regardless of whether it’s about setting it up or changing the existing configuration.

There are also several known issues and other smaller improvements in this build, and you can check them in full in the box after the jump.
