Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 preview build for users in the Fast ring of the Windows Insider program.

Windows 10 build 18290 comes with one welcome visual improvement, including refined Fluent Design in the Start menu.

“Following up on our jump list improvements with Build 18282, when you update to today’s build you’ll notice we’ve polished up the power and user menus in Start as well – including adding icons for easier identification,” Microsoft explains.

Additionally, beginning with this build, users can manually synchronize the clock with a time server. While Windows 10 can do this on its own automatically, but Microsoft says this option may come in handy when the clock is out of sync or the time service isn’t available or was disabled.

Apps using the microphone displayed in the tray

Windows 10 build 18290 also introduces a new system tray icon that shows what apps are using the microphone.

“In Build 18252 we introduced a new mic icon that would appear in the notification area letting you know when an app was accessing your microphone. Today we’re updating it so if you hover over the icon, it will now show you which app. Double clicking the icon will open Microphone Privacy Settings,” the company adds.

Windows Update will also display an icon in the system tray to let you know when a reboot is required to complete the installation of new updates, while the Mail & Calendar application officially receives support for Microsoft To-Do with version 11001.20106.

There are several known issues and other general improvements in this build, and you can check them out in full in the box after the jump.

Windows 10 19H1 is projected to be finalized in March as version 1903, ahead of the public release in April. Several other builds, however, will be shipped in the meantime to insiders.
