14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has released the typical monthly non-security Office updates, and the rollout also includes a patch for OneNote 2016 sync issues.
Update KB4464579, which is available right now for Office 2016 users, resolves three different bugs in the application, including the said glitch that breaks down the synchronization process.
“Synchronizing a notebook from OneNote 2016 fails and you receive the following error message: We're sorry, something went wrong during sync. We'll try again later. (Error code: 0x803D0000),” Microsoft explains.
Microsoft previously attempted to fix this issue with update KB3085534 as well. In addition to installing this update, you also need to install updates KB4461441 and KB4464552, according to the official KB page.
Additionally, Microsoft says this update resolves a bug that could cause a crash of the system when the app is started or when hyperlinks are clicked in Word or Outlook, as well as an issue breaking down Skype for Business 2016 when Active Directory users log in.
Other Office updates
This month’s pack of updates also includes several other updates for Office 2016 users, and you can find the full list in the box after the jump. There is just one Office 2013 patch in this rollout.
Another notable update is KB4464539, which brings fixes for Microsoft Excel 2016. Microsoft details the issue that this patch resolves:
“Assume that you have Excel 2016 installed on Windows and your regional settings specify a trailing currency symbol. When you apply a custom number format that does not include the currency symbol to a cell, the values may be displayed incorrectly with additional spaces present toward the end of the cell.”
Update KB4464578 is also required to fully address the Excel 2016 bug.
Keep in mind that this is a non-security rollout, as vulnerabilities in the Office productivity suite were published on Patch Tuesday last month. New security fixes will roll out on June 11.
