Microsoft has just released a new Windows 11 preview build, and this one is the last of the year, as the company now plans to ship another build in early 2022.

Windows 11 build 22523 is now available for download for users enrolled in the Windows Insider program in the Dev channel, and the good news is that ARM64 PCs are getting it as well.

The new release doesn’t come with too major changes, though it does include a series of improvements that pave the way for an improved experience on Windows 11.

For example, snap groups in Alt + Tab are now live for all insiders, as Microsoft used a gradual rollout to make sure the feature is refined enough before broad availability in the Insider program.

“We have rolled out snap groups in ALT + TAB and Task View just like when you hover open apps on the taskbar, and you see them there, to all Insiders in the Dev Channel,” the company says.

Several important fixes

At the same time, File Explorer is also getting some refinements.

“When File Explorer is open to This PC, the add media server and (if appropriate) remove media server option is now available when you click the “…” in the command bar,” it explains.

There are obviously several bug fixes as well, and Microsoft says that it also resolved the glitch that caused the battery level in the system tray to sometimes show a value higher than 100 percent.

Furthermore, Spotlight Collection, a feature that was introduced in the previous testing build, is getting additional polishing, so after enabling it, the first image should be offered a bit faster.

Needless to say, this is a preview build, so it also comes with a series of known issues of its own, but make sure you report any strange behavior to Microsoft so that the company can fix it in early 2022.
