14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has kicked off the work on another Microsoft Edge Dev build, and this week, the company shipped the very first release as part of version 105.
More specifically, Microsoft Edge build 105.0.1300.0 is now available for the Dev channel, with the software giant explaining that it has added two new features for testing.
For instance, this Edge Dev build includes new policies by improving trending searches in Microsoft Edge, while also adding a new button in the PDF toolbar to share documents.
The Redmond-based software giant also says it has resolved an animation error on the mobile sync settings page (obviously in the mobile version of Microsoft Edge), while also addressing a glitch that showed up when clicking on the search box above top sites on smartphones.
There are several changes in terms of reliability as well:
- Improved efficiency mode strings and its feature settings
- Improved the phrasing in the sleeping tabs policy to be clearer when it is off/on.
- Improved keyboard UX on Android
- Improved the Print dialog’s Options announcements for screen readers.
- Improved Android to remove the mask of the entire article after starting Read aloud and now use assorted color schemes for highlights under different themes
- Improved trending searches in Microsoft Edge
Keep in mind, however, that this early build is just for testing, so you shouldn’t install a Microsoft Edge version and use it as your daily driver, no matter how stable it looks to be. On the other hand, I’ve rarely encountered any major bugs in Dev builds, but the purpose is obviously to test the new capabilities and send feedback to Microsoft.
This way, the company can resolve any bugs that are discovered by testers before a new Microsoft Edge build becomes available for production devices in the stable channel.
