The ad, however, landed after the Superbowl

Microsoft has released what can easily be considered a Superbowl ad for the Surface, though this time, the video was actually released after the Superbowl.

The company clearly didn’t think it was worth paying big bucks for the whole thing given it’s already working with the NFL as part of a special partnership, so it decided to release an ad specifically to show how the Surface changes the game from the sideline.

While I’m not going to remind you of the, let’s call them unfortunate events involving the Surface in NFL games, Microsoft shows how coaches and players interact with the 2-in-1 in a way that’s not only convenient but also very straightforward.

“With more than 2,000 Surface devices in the hands of players and coaches, powering 332 NFL games in a year, Surface has become ubiquitous on the sidelines. Superstitions are also ubiquitous with players and coaches, from what socks they wear to how they lace up their shoes to how they prepare for every game. In the end, who knows what superstitions are true, but one thing is undeniably clear – Microsoft Surface has the power to change the game,” Microsoft says.

The partnership expanded beyond the Surface

The partnership between Microsoft and the NFL was extended back in 2020, with the collaboration now also including access to Microsoft Teams on mobile devices.

“As part of the partnership expansion, Microsoft and the NFL will now work together on modern collaboration technology to further empower the League using the new Microsoft Teams platform. Designed to work seamlessly across Windows, iOS and Android devices, Microsoft Teams brings together chat, calling, meetings, files, document collaboration and workflow into a single app. Rather than use separate apps for those experiences, NFL teams and the entire organization can collaborate and stay constantly and securely connected on Microsoft Teams,” the company announced two years ago.
