A new update is now live with lots of fixes

Microsoft has released a new optional Windows 11 cumulative update, and just like expected, the focus has been on non-security improvements and bug fixes.

Cumulative update KB5011563 increases Windows 11 OS build number to 22000.593, and one of the biggest changes it comes with is supposed for up to three high-priority toast notifications displayed at the same time.

“This feature is for apps that send notifications for calls, reminders, or alarms using Windows notifications in the OS. As a result, up to four toast notifications might appear simultaneously–three-high priority notifications and one normal priority notification,” Microsoft says.

Needless to say, there are plenty of other fixes and improvements, and you can check out the full changelog in the box after the jump.

Just one known issue

In the meantime, it’s important to know this cumulative update comes with just one known issue affecting the creation of recovery discs with the native software.

Microsoft explains that the old Backup and Restore feature available in Control Panel might fail to start, not due to this new update but because of a predecessor that was shipped in January.

“After installing the Windows updates released January 11, 2022 or later Windows versions on an affected version of Windows, recovery discs (CD or DVD) created by using the Backup and Restore (Windows 7) app in Control Panel might be unable to start. Recovery discs that were created by using the Backup and Restore (Windows 7) app on devices which have installed Windows updates released before January 11, 2022 are not affected by this issue and should start as expected,” the company explains.

Microsoft says third-party backup and recovery apps are not affected by this problem, so you can very well switch to other software while the company keeps working on a fix. Of course, nobody knows for sure when this fix is supposed to go live.
