Microsoft has just released a new update for the preview version of Office for iOS, once again starting the best-testing of a couple of improvements that would eventually be shipped to all users worldwide.

Office for iOS, which can be installed on both iPhone and iPad, has substantially improved in the last few months, and the Insider program is the one to thank to for this. As part of the program, users can try out new features before they are being released as updates in the App Store for all iOS devices, thus sending feedback to the company to improve performance and fix potential bugs.

This is the purpose of this new release as well, which bumps Office for iOS to version 2.14 (180259) and is a preview of the June 2018 feature update for the productivity suite.

PowerPoint improvements

As Microsoft explains, this fresh build includes options to “set things straight,” which actually means that Office for iOS now comes with a digital ruler that’s supposed to help you draw straight lines or align sets of objects. This is a feature that’s already available in the other flavors of Microsoft Office, so with this release, iOS devices are brought in line with the functionality on PCs.

Additionally, this update brings a second improvement for PowerPoint, allowing users to convert hyperlinks to any font color they want.

Changing the color of a hyperlink is quite an easy thing to do. All you need is select the hyperlink that you want to edit and in the Home section of the ribbon, tap the option that reads Font Color to open the menu of colors. Tap any color you want and that’s pretty much it.

Keep in mind that since this is a preview build of the productivity suite, certain bugs could still be experienced, though Insider preview builds are generally quite stable.
