Microsoft has just released a new Windows 11 preview build to users who are part of the Dev channel in the Windows Insider program.

The new build is 25284, and it includes the very first third-party widget – powered by Facebook, it allows users to see their Messenger conversations right from the widgets board.

Other than that, the new build is focused nearly entirely on bug fixing and additional polishing, so for instance, it resolves a glitch that caused explorer.exe to crash when using the search box in the taskbar.

But at the same time, while the widgets experience is getting a highly anticipated overhaul with the support of third-party widgets, this new build also comes with a series of known issues that are specifically related to this Windows 11 feature.

Microsoft explains that occasionally, some widgets might disappear from the widgets board. Only third-party widgets seem to be affected, and the company says the only way to get them back is to repin them manually as you did the first time when setting them up.

The following issues are part of this latest build and related to widgets:

  • Third-party widgets may occasionally disappear from the widgets board. They can be re-added by clicking refresh or by re-pinning them from the widgets picker.
  • Third-party widgets may occasionally get unpinned when the Microsoft account is used to sign-in multiple Windows 11 devices.
  • The undo button on the widget pinned/unpinned toast notification sometimes doesn’t work.

Microsoft says it’s also aware of a glitch that blocks users from changing the taskbar search box to an icon. If your device is also hitting this error, the workaround comes down to changing the search box to a different option and only then select the icon mode in the taskbar.
