Microsoft has just released new ISO images for Windows 10 Redstone 5, as the company moves closer to the last stages of the development process and gets ready to finalize another major OS update.

The new ISOs are aimed at insiders and allow the install of Windows 10 build 17738. The same build was released to insiders in the Fast ring earlier this month, and last week it was promoted to the Slow ring as well.

Typically, new builds are pushed to the Slow ring once the most critical bugs are resolves, so they are supposed to offer increased reliability and stability as compared to the original versions sipped to the Fast ring.

In many cases, Slow ring releases also include new ISOs that allow users to clean-install the operating system and start from scratch, a thing that many people do not only to directly update to a specific version, but to also diagnose issues that may otherwise be rather difficult to address.

Windows 10 build 17738

Since we’re getting closer to the moment Microsoft signs off the RTM build for Windows 10 Redstone 5, build 17738 doesn’t bring any new features, but it is specifically focused on fixing bugs and refining performance.

The full changelog is available in the box after the jump, but worth highlighting is a fix aimed at Windows 10 running in S Mode, where launching Office previously failed. Microsoft explains:

“We fixed an issue where on Windows 10 in S Mode, launching Office in the Store might fail to launch with an error about a .dll not being designed to run on Windows.”

There are obviously several known issues as well, including one that could lead to a system crash when logging out of the user profile or shutting down the PC, so make sure you have a look at the release notes below to know what to expect if you plan to install this build.
