Microsoft has released a new set of cumulative updates for Windows 10 as part of the December 2021 Patch Tuesday cycle.
The new updates are available for all versions of Windows 10 that are still supported, and since they are released on a Patch Tuesday, their main objective is to address security problems in the operating system.
The new cumulative updates for Windows 10 are the following:
- Windows 10 version 1507 — KB5008230 (OS Build 10240.19145)
- Windows 10 version 1607 — KB5008207 (OS Build 14393.4825)
- Windows 10 version 1703 — EOS
- Windows 10 version 1709 — EOS
- Windows 10 version 1803 — EOS
- Windows 10 version 1809 — KB5008218 (OS Build 17763.2366)
- Windows 10 version 1903 — EOS
- Windows 10 version 1909 — KB5008206 (OS Build 18363.1977)
- Windows 10 version 2004, 20H2 and 21H1 — KB5008212 (OS Builds 19041.1415, 19042.1415, 19043.1415, and 19044.1415)
As far as the known issues are concerned, no new problems have been acknowledged, as the same glitches as before are still impacting these cumulative updates.
For example, the Remote Desktop glitch is yet to be resolved.
“After installing this update, when connecting to devices in an untrusted domain using Remote Desktop, connections might fail to authenticate when using smart card authentication. You might receive the prompt, "Your credentials did not work. The credentials that were used to connect to [device name] did not work. Please enter new credentials." and "The login attempt failed" in red,” Microsoft says.
At the time of writing this article, I’m not aware of any other installation problems hitting these cumulative updates, so make sure you let us know if you encounter any problems.
