14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has published a new firmware update for the Surface Pro, the company’s latest Pro model that could get an upgrade as soon as the next month.
The new Surface Pro firmware version is 234.2317.257.0, and it includes improvements for the Surface System Aggregator, which according to the official changelog, should improve battery stability.
The new firmware update is available right now via Windows Update for Surface Pro model 1796 and model 1807, which represent the Wi-Fi version and the LTE sibling. The latter was launched at a later time, and it receives separate updates because of the LTE connectivity.
Surface Pro hardware refresh next month?
Microsoft will be holding a Surface event on October 2, and while details have been scarce, it’s believed that new devices could be introduced.
One of the new models to unveiled at the event could be the second-generation Surface Laptop, which according to recent leaks, may come with a black version as well.
While it’s not yet clear if a new Surface Pro model could also see daylight, a product refresh is in the works anyway. Earlier this year, it was speculated that the next Surface Pro could go on sale either in the fall of 2018 or in the spring of 2019.
Most likely, the focus will be on hardware upgrades, pen input, and the keyboards, though specifics aren’t available right now. However, with Microsoft investing more and more in touch interaction with its devices, such improvements do make sense across the entire Surface lineup, and not just on the new Surface Pro.
It remains to be seen if the company wants to showcase the new Surface Pro at the event next month, but in the meantime, customers can benefit from refined battery experience by installing the most recent firmware update. Just make sure that the device is fully charged or connected to a power source.
