Microsoft has released new firmware updates for both the Surface Pro and the Surface Studio as part of the monthly rollout that brings improvements to its devices.

The Surface Pro is getting only small improvements, as the new release includes an update for the Surface mobile broadband component to version 18.08.20.1622.

According to the changelog, this version improves LTE stability when using eSIM, so you should experience smoother LTE performance if you rely on this particular setup.

On the other hand, the Surface Studio update is massive and includes improvements for everything from display to sound and even software performance like Cortana.

For example, the new Surface Studio firmware version comes with a Bluetooth driver update to version 15.68.9125.57 and improved system security, but also with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M (depending on version) version 24.21.13.9827 for refined stability.

Microsoft is also updating the Surface Pen settings for better performance, and the NVIDIA High Definition Audio driver is bumped to version 1.3.37.4 for improved system stability.

All Surface Studio versions are getting the new firmware today from Windows Update, while the new Surface Pro update requires at least Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703).

However, it’s worth noting that the update is being released in stages, so you may not see it right away in Windows Update. Microsoft says that it could take a while until everyone gets the update, but typically this happens very fast.

“Updates are released in stages – not every Surface will receive the update at the same time, but it’ll be delivered to all devices. If you haven’t received an update, check Start > Settings > Update & security > Windows Update,” the company explains.

You can check out the full Surface Studio firmware update release notes in the box after the jump and head over to Windows Update to see if it’s ready for your device.
