Currently available to just half of the insiders

Microsoft’s most recent Windows 10 19H1 preview build comes with a silent improvement in addition to the ones announced by the company in the official release notes.

Build 18272 makes it possible to unpin several apps in the Start menu at once, all by right-clicking a group name or tile folder.

For the time being, users still aren’t able to select multiple items in the Start menu using CTRL + click, as many would expect the whole thing to work, so if you were thinking of running batch actions like uninstalling, resizing the tiles, and other things like that on more than an app, just forget about it for now.

Only half of insiders getting it

Microsoft engineer Jen Gentleman says on reddit that this new feature is currently available for approximately 50 percent of the insiders in the Fast ring, the only one who received build 18272, but it should be enabled for more users in the coming weeks.

“Something new we're rolling out that I figured you guys would appreciate - basically if you right-click on a group name or tile folder in Start you'll now get an option to unpin the whole thing. Makes it a lot faster to start fresh. Currently this is available for 50% of Insiders on Build 18272 - we'll let you know when it rolls out to the rest of the people on this build,” she said.

You can’t do anything to try out this feature right now if it’s not available for you, as Microsoft randomly picks the insiders to try it out.

“It's totally random, yeah - doing a side by side reliability comparison to ensure that introducing this change goes as smoothly as possible. Should come to everyone in the next few weeks, but will keep you posted,” Jen continued.

New builds should be released in the coming weeks, so it probably wouldn’t take long before the group unpinning becomes available to all.
