Microsoft has just released a new stable version of Microsoft Launcher, only a few weeks after the company shipped the very first beta to testers.

Microsoft Launcher 5.8 doesn’t bring too many changes to Android devices, albeit it does refine the experience with the launcher and adds a bunch of improvements that many are going to love.

For example, the updated Launcher introduces a new behavior for apps that you just installed. Beginning with this version, newly-installed apps are automatically added to the home screen, so you should find them easier without the need for searching in the app drawer.

This feature is only available on devices running Android 8.0 and above though, and it’s actually offered by default on a series of other smartphones out there at OS level.

Update currently rolling out to devices

Microsoft Launcher 5.8 also includes search refinements, and Microsoft explains in the changelog that the search experience has been optimized in a way that makes local search results easier to access.

And last but not least, the updated app comes with a change for Microsoft Intune, and this is something that enterprises working with Android devices are going to love. The software giant details this change in the official release notes published on the Google Play Store:

“Microsoft Intune Fully Managed Devices Support - IT pros now can configure home screen experiences for managed devices, including wallpaper, home screen apps, app icons placement, and feed availability.”

As usual, the rollout is still under way, so it could take a while until the update shows up on your device. If don’t like waiting, you can always head over to Softpedia’s APK website and download Microsoft Launcher for Android to manually update the application and enjoy the latest goodies right now.
