Yet another Microsoft app for Android devices

Microsoft has released another news app for Android in addition to the original Microsoft News app that remains up for grabs for mobile users.

Called Hummingbird, the new application is currently limited to devices in the United States, and it comes with features that are supposed to help deliver a totally personalized experience to each user.

The whole idea that Hummingbird relies on is that AI and machine learning work together to deliver news stories that are more relevant to your interests. Needless to say, you still have to configure a series of topics that you want to follow, but the application takes care of everything for you, making sure that you’re up-to-date with your favorite topics.

Just like in the case of Microsoft News, there’s a long list of categories to choose from, including science, technology, celebrities, and others. You can see some of them in the screenshots included in the photo gallery below.

A second Microsoft news app

While it makes little sense for a second news application to be released on the same platform, my guess is that Microsoft may use Hummingbird as a testing platform, possibly planning to move some of its key features to the main app at some point in the future.

The bigger problem, however, is that it’s restricted to the United States, so while more users could give it a try, not being able to get it from the Google Play Store is quite a setback. It remains to be seen if the app makes it to other countries anytime soon, but until now, Microsoft has remained completely tightlipped on plans for the Hummingbird news app.

You can download the Hummingbird APK from Softpedia using this link if you want to use it on your Android device regardless of the country you live in.
