Microsoft has just released a new cumulative update for devices running Windows 10 19H1 preview builds as part of the Windows Insider program.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4487181 is now available via Windows Update, and it increases the OS build number to 18312.1007. To check the OS build number, type winver in the Start menu and press enter.

This cumulative update comes to fix three different issues, as explained by Microsoft in the official changelog.

First and foremost, the update resolves a bug in File Explorer, which according to the software giant locks USB devices and makes it impossible to eject them. The workaround, in this case, was to close File Explorer and then eject devices using the icon in the system tray.

Additionally, this cumulative update also resolves an issue that caused fatal crashes, which in preview builds are called Green Screen of Death errors, due to an error with bindflt.sys.

The third fix resolves a bug which caused a hang for AD users when changing passwords and then trying to unlock their devices.

Night Light bug resolved

However, Dona Sarkar, chief of the Windows Insider program, says Microsoft has also addressed the issue that broke down Night Light and f.lux, though the changelog of the cumulative update doesn’t include any mention of this problem.

To get the new cumulative update, you can head over to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update to check for updates and get it on your Windows 10 19H1 device.

A new build of the upcoming OS version is projected to launch very soon, possibly this week, with even more improvements and new features. Cumulative updates do not add any new features, but only fixes and performance optimizations.

Windows 10 19H1 is projected to be finalized in March, while the public rollout should start in April.
