Microsoft has released a new firmware update for the Surface Go, the company’s smallest and cheapest Surface model to date.

The October firmware update comes with just one improvement, and with version 1.5.1.0, the software giant repairs a Generic IO & Memory Access issue on the Surface Go.

“1.5.1.0 improves display calibration addressing incorrect power setting behaviors associated with Windows 10 October 2018 Update,” Microsoft says in the changelog.

The firmware update requires Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803) or newer, but this shouldn’t be a problem since the Surface Go was launched earlier this year with this particular version of the OS pre-installed.

This is the second firmware update for the Surface Go after the August release that brought system stability improvements.

As you can see, firmware updates are still small in the Surface Go lineup, and Microsoft has only small fixes to address with every release. You can install the new update from Windows Update right now, and if you can’t see it just yet, you have to wait for a little bit longer and check for updates once again.

Firmware updates are gradually released to Surface devices across the world, and depending on your region, it may take longer to land on your device. Keep in mind that your device must be fully charged or plugged in when installing the firmware update.

Microsoft Surface Go is Redmond’s most affordable Surface model on the market and it comes with a $399 price tag in the United States. It’s particularly aimed the education market and ships with Windows 10 in S Mode, which is limited to the Microsoft Store and Win32 software cannot be installed.

However, this restriction can be lifted and users can unlock full Windows 10, though the limited hardware can lead to performance issues and slowdowns.
