New insider build prepared by Microsoft for Office 2016

Microsoft has recently started an insider program for its Office productivity suite, trying to use the same strategy as for Windows 10 to improve this particular product too.

Today, the company has announced a new update to the build available for insiders, introducing a couple of changes addressing the top feedback received after the latest release.

The new build pushes Office 2016 preview to version 16.0.6366.2062 and includes two important fixes for widespread bugs, as follows:

Word 2016 doesn't display your document formatting correctly when you edit a document Excel 2016 crashes when using Application.OnKey() to intercept key stroke

Keep in mind that this new version is not yet available, but Microsoft says that it will begin rolling it out in the coming days for participating insiders. To get it, launch the Office app and click File > Account > Update > Update Now, and your install will get the new build automatically.

Early access to new tools

The Office Insider program works very similarly to the one aimed at Windows 10. Participating users are provided with early access to releases, and they are allowed to try out features that may or may not be available in public builds of the operating system.

Insiders are required to provide feedback on the features they test, but Microsoft warns that only advanced users should register for the program, mostly because certain IT knowledge and skills are required to diagnose bugs or be able to report issues that are found in the application.

So far, the program has worked pretty great for Windows 10, and Microsoft has already launched the core operating system plus the first big update with help from insiders. The company is now working on the Redstone update, also with help from insiders, so the Office program is expected to pave the way for several important improvements to the productivity suite too.
