It recommends users to explore other devices for the feature

The Lumia 650 is a bit of a disappointment for Windows Phone fans since the smartphone can hardly go as an upgrade for other mid-range devices launched by Microsoft in the last couple of years.

One of the features that's missing in Lumia 650, even though it has lots of fans, is Continuum for Phones. Because it comes with a low-end Qualcomm chipset inside, the Lumia 650 does not support Continuum for Phones.

However, Microsoft could have included a slightly better chipset that would have made it compatible with that unique feature.

Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and Lumia 650 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

Don't expect affordable smartphones with Continuum for Phones support

The folks over at SlashGear have just published a statement on the matter coming from a Microsoft official. Here is what the company has to say about the lack of Continuum for Phone support in Lumia 650:

“We are aiming to deliver the most productive Windows 10 Mobile devices at all price points. With the Lumia 650, our goal was to create a beautiful device that’s affordable for businesses to buy and deploy.

“In this price range we are giving customers smart business tools, including seamless Office and OneDrive integration and Cortana, so users can stay productive and synced across all Windows 10 devices. We encourage users looking for Continuum productivity features to explore the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL,” said an official Microsoft spokesperson.

The bottom line is Microsoft wants customers to purchase a much more expensive smartphone if they absolutely need to use Continuum for Phones.

That being said, it looks like Windows Phone fans shouldn't expect any affordable smartphones that will offer Continuum for Phones as Microsoft wants to save it for its slightly more expensive devices.
