Microsoft Offers $533 Discount for Its Ultimate Windows 10 Laptop (With a Catch)

If you’re in the market for a new Windows 10 laptop, you shouldn’t look any further than the Microsoft Store, as the software giant is offering huge discounts for the Surface Book lineup.

Specifically, the top Surface Book model now costs no less than $533 less if you agree to buy a refurbished unit. This configuration comes with an Intel Core i7 chip, 16 GB RAM, a dedicated graphics card, and 512 GB storage. The original price was $2,299, so it now costs just $1,766.

The most affordable configuration, which includes an Intel Core i5 processor and 128 GB storage, is available for $883, a price cut of no less than $266 from the original price of $1,149.

Refurbished Microsoft devices

And now, the more important question: is it safe to purchase a refurbished device from Microsoft? The software giant swears it is, as every single pre-owned device has undergone several tests, so it’s fully functional with no bugs whatsoever. Microsoft explains:

“Microsoft certified refurbished Surface devices are pre-owned Microsoft products that undergo a rigorous refurbishment process prior to being offered for resale. Refurbished Surface products are clean and fully functional devices. You should expect a fully functioning product with complete materials in the box at a discount. You have our assurance that any parts that were replaced are genuine Surface components and your new device meets our high quality standards.”

As far as the device itself is concerned, as we’ve explained in our Surface Book 2017 review, the so-called ultimate laptop is still pretty powerful even though it was launched more than a year and a half ago.

The Surface Laptop comes with top hardware that can run Windows 10 flawlessly, while the top configurations include even better specs that make them just perfect for gaming or other advanced tasks like video editing.

Even though a successor to the Surface Book is yet to launch, Microsoft did release a standard laptop called Surface Laptop which also comes with powerful hardware, but without a detachable keyboard.
