Microsoft’s Selfie app for iOS seems to be quite successful, as it recorded no less than 500,000 downloads in two weeks after launch, so Redmond has every reason in the world to update it on a regular basis.

And the latest update brings some pretty handy features to iPhone users who want to take a selfie, including support for the really annoying but very useful selfie stick.

Starting with version 2.1.0, Microsoft’s Selfie app for iOS works with selfie sticks too, while also offering a share feature and enabling the rating feature in the settings page.

Some small performance improvements and bug fixes are also part of this release, Microsoft has revealed, so users of the Selfie app for iOS should update as soon as possible.

Selfie app features

Although some people might think that you don’t need a dedicated app to take a selfie, Microsoft’s very own solution for iPhone users comes with a bunch of features that could really improve the quality of your photos.

For example, the app features what the company calls “intelligent portrait enhancements,” which automatically detect your age, gender, and skin tone to enhance the photo. At the same time, noise reduction features are also being offered, and so is automatic exposure control.

“Microsoft Selfie is a selfie and photo enhancement application available on iOS, web and WeChat. Backed by computer vision technology, Microsoft Selfie intelligently considers age, gender, skin tone, lighting, and many other variables all with one click. Users can transform average photos into enhanced, ideal portraits in seconds,” the description of the app reads.

Certainly, seeing Microsoft releasing and updating iOS apps might be a bit frustrating for long-time Windows Phone users, but let’s just hope that at some point in the future the company would bring it on its own platform too. In the meantime, iPhone users can use this link to download the app.
