There’s no doubt that Microsoft’s aggressive push for Windows 10 has angered many consumers out there while others are disappointed with the company needing so much time to bring out the new Windows 10 Mobile upgrade for Windows Phone users.

So while opinions in the consumer market over Microsoft’s performance are very mixed, businesses are nothing but pleased with Redmond’s solutions.

Research firm Gartner has published a new study that shows that “Microsoft is the top could email provider in big public companies,” surpassing Google in almost every single case.

Specifically, Microsoft’s solutions are being used by 85 percent of the companies with over 100,000 employees or revenues over $10 billion, but also by 80 percent of the businesses with more than 5,000 employees or revenues of up to $9 billion.

Google’s share grows as the number of employees drops

According to the research, Google improves as the number of employees and the revenues are dropping, but it’s very clear that Microsoft still dominates this particular industry.

“Microsoft is predominant in the large enterprise space. Microsoft has a larger share of companies with more employees, dominating the very high end by more than 4:1. Google's popularity increases among smaller companies,” the research shows.

In a graph regarding Microsoft’s revenues for FY 2013, the company revealed that 55 percent of its revenues came from enterprises while only 20 percent were accounted by consumers. Microsoft Office and Server and Tools, which are most used in the enterprise field, account for 32 percent and 26 percent of the revenues while Windows is third with 25 percent.

The operating system dominates both the workspace and the home desktop, and with the arrival of Windows 10, Microsoft is also trying to expand into more markets by making the operating system available on many more devices, including gaming consoles, wearables, and IoT.
