Microsoft has just announced major updates for its OneNote apps for Android and iOS. The latter was available in two versions for iPhone and iPad, but with the latest update there's only one OneNote app for iOS.

“You might have noticed that our apps had a “for iPad” and “for iPhone” in the title—that’s because they were two separate apps.

“This month we did a bunch of work behind the scenes to create one universal iOS app that works on both iPad and iPhone,” said Microsoft in a blog post.

Those who previously had the application on iPad will need to get the new OneNote application from the store. When you open the iPad application, you will immediately get instructions for getting the new app.

Three new features are now available for iPad users

However, if you're an iPhone user, you won't need to do anything since Microsoft merged the iPad app into the iPhone app, which means you already own the new version.

Apart from merging both OneNote apps, Microsoft also added some new features. These new features had been available on iPhone, but they are now accessible to iPad users as well.

Today Widget is one of the new features available for iPad users. It allows them to create notes, start lists, and access their most recent notes with one tap directly from the Notification Center.

With Recent Notes, OneNote users on iPad will be able to find their most recently edited notes in a single view.

Last but not least, you will now be able to turn the iPad into landscape mode and see page previews. This new feature makes it quick to remember what content there is on a page.

Microsoft also confirms they have fixed the document/whiteboard camera which was not working properly. The bug has been fixed thanks to the users’ feedback.

You can now download OneNote for iOS for free via App Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by iOS 7.1 or later.
