#moviedate helps you set up a movie date… with stickers

Microsoft really seems to be a big fan of Apple iMessage stickers, and after rolling out the so-called Halo Stickers pack for iOS 10, the company comes back with another one called #moviedate.

The purpose of the new stickers pack is interesting to say the least and is based on a very simple idea: why using words to ask someone out when you can actually send a sticker that says pretty much everything?

A sticker is worth a thousand words and Microsoft has made it possible for users to select a movie they want to watch, create the event with stickers, send out the invitation, and then wait for a response also with stickers.

“Avoid the awkwardness and stress of asking someone out with the #moviedate iMessage extension. Create a fun sticker invite for a movie, and send it to the person you want to ask out. You’re most certainly going to get their attention with the #moviedate stickers!” the stickers pack description published in the App Store reads.

Aimed at a young crowd

It goes without saying that this sticker pack requires iOS 10, because this is the only OS version that supports stickers in iMessage, and Microsoft says that you must be at least 17 years old to download it.

Truth be told, it’s very clear that it’s specifically designed for a younger crowd, although grown-ups also seem to like it too (after all, everyone might have a hard time asking someone out).

Microsoft seems to be more and more interested in taking advantage of what other platforms have to offer, including stickers in iOS 10, and this is part of the company’s strategy of providing other users with access to its services, no matter the OS or the device. This is obviously a little bit frustrating for Windows users, especially since Microsoft seems to neglect its own platform, but it’s part of a long-term strategy that could expand Redmond’s userbase beyond Windows.
