Redmond announces new offer for its upcoming phablet

Microsoft Lumia 950 XL is Redmond's new flagship device that's expected to debut later this month in several markets across the world, but those in the United States will receive a super exclusive offer that includes a free Continuum adapter.

That's right, if you live in the United States and purchase a Lumia 950 XL, you can get the Continuum adapter, which allows you to turn a phone into a PC, completely free of charge.

As WMPU notes, the deal is valid if you buy the new phablet running Windows 10 Mobile between November 25 and 31. You also have to register in the Lumia Offers app and then get your Continuum dock from the Microsoft Store by the end of February 2016.

“Eligible for free Microsoft Display Dock with purchase of Lumia 950 XL via the Lumia Offers app, while supplies last,” the message posted in the Microsoft store reads. In plain English, you really need to hurry up because it's a limited-time offer, so when the company runs out of Continuum docks, you won't get it for free and have to purchase it separately instead.

The Continuum Display Dock

The so-called Microsoft Display Dock, which enables the Continuum feature, allows users to plug in a Lumia 950 or 950 XL and an external monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse to get a fully featured PC. The phone's screen is mirrored to the monitor, so you can work on the device just like you do on a PC.

The Display Dock features a USB Type-C connector, DisplayPort and HDMI ports, 2 USB 2.0, and LED power indicators. It supports video resolution up to 1920x1080 pixels.

The dock will go on sale across the world together with the new Lumias later this month, but without the aforementioned offer, you need to purchase it separately for $99 (€85).
