It looks like the upcoming Lumia 850 is more capable than we originally thought. Although this is not the first time we get a glimpse at what the smartphone might look like, it's the first time that we lay eyes on a real prototype, not just renders of the device.

The first live images of the Lumia 850 come directly from China (via NPU) and show both front and back sides of the smartphone.

The device came a long way regarding specs, as the leakster now claims the Lumia 850 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, whereas previously the smartphone was said to pack a modest 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU.

Another improvement over the previous rumors is the huge 5.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. Previous rumors claimed the smartphone will sport a 5-inch display with HD (720p) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

Windows Hello or a better front-facing camera?

Another piece of information regarding the Lumia 850 is that it will come with either front LED flash or iris scanner that will make it compatible with Windows Hello feature.

It's unclear whether or not it will support Continuum for phones, but we do know the smartphone should measure 155.90 x 77.23 x 6.92 / 8.50 mm.

Obviously, it will run Windows 10 Mobile, and according to the latest rumors, it should be unveiled in the first half of 2016.

Microsoft has a few more Lumia smartphones in the pipeline, but the Lumia 850 seems to be the best in the upcoming lineup. Rumor has it that at least two other smartphones, Lumia 650 and Lumia 750 will be launched on the market next year if they aren't canceled (again).

Of course, most Windows Phone fans are anxious to learn more about Microsoft's upcoming Surface Phone, but that device won't be coming until the second half of 2016, so there's plenty of time to find out more about it.
