Microsoft is expected to launch at least one affordable Windows 10 Mobile handset in the first quarter of 2016. The Lumia 650 and Lumia 850 are both excellent candidates to make their debut soon, so we will probably report pretty often on these devices in the next couple of weeks.

Some of you might recall our previous week's news about Lumia 850, which is tipped to be announced on January 12, the same date when Microsoft is said to roll out Windows 10 Mobile update for Windows Phone 8.1 devices.

For the time being, the Lumia 650 is the only one confirmed by Microsoft, though the company's officials are still mum on the phone's exact release date.

Today, a new picture of the affordable smartphone has been leaked online via VentureBeat. The photo shows a prototype Lumia 650 unit, but the overall design of the device is unlikely to be changed so close to the official release.

The source of the leak has also been able to confirm some of the smartphone's specs, which seem to be in line with the latest rumors.

A premium smartphone in an affordable package

First of all, the Lumia 650 will sport a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. On the inside, the device packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor paired with 1GB of RAM.

There's no mention of storage, but the Lumia 650 might come with either 8GB or 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 200GB via microSD card slot.

On the back, the affordable smartphone will feature an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, and video recording.

Another piece of information regarding Lumia 650's specs sheet is the fact that it will be powered by a 2,000 mAh battery. Wireless charging functionality will be included as well. Sadly, no LTE support has been confirmed for this prototype unit.
