As expected, Lumia 640's bigger brother has just arrived in the United States and is now available for purchase through AT&T's official retail channels. Customers can now pick this one up for $250 off contract or $0.99 with a new two-year agreement.

In addition, AT&T also offers customers the option to grab the Lumia 640 XL for $0 down on an AT&T Next plan, paying $8.34 per month with 30 device payments on Next 24, $10.42 per month at 24 payments on Next 18, or $12.50 per month at 20 payments on Next 12.

The smartphone is available beginning today from AT&T online and brick and mortar stores in either matter black or matte white color options.

Microsoft Lumia 640 XL ships with Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 right out of the box, which means those who decide to go for it will benefit from some extra features over other Lumia phones.

Moving on to specs, the Lumia 640 XL sports a large 5.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

One of the newest Windows Phone handsets launched by Microsoft, the Lumia 640 XL packs 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

There's also a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash, full HD (1080p) video recording and Carl Zeiss optics, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

Microsoft Lumia 640 XL is powered by a high-capacity 3,000 mAh battery and offers 4G LTE support, along with other connectivity options including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC (Near Field Communication), microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS.
