Even though they are more expensive, they provide users with better hardware and enhanced features. But if you can't afford Microsoft's high-end smartphones, you can wait a few more months for the Lumia 550.
Although the budget-friendly handset won't be available for purchase for at least several more weeks, we get to see what's inside courtesy to FCC (Federal Communications Commission).
As WMPU points out, several pictures have been published on FCC's website, which show the innards of the Lumia 550.
This is probably useful for tech-savvy people who want to know before the smartphone goes on sale what components the Lumia 550 integrates and what's missing.
Decent specs for the price you pay
On paper, Lumia 550 looks like a decent, affordable smartphone currently priced at €130 ($140) outright.
For example, the handset sports a 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. It also comes with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera that features autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) resolution, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel selfie camera in the front.
Microsoft Lumia 550 is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, an Adreno 304 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.
The smartphone comes with only 8GB of storage inside, but users can further expand internal memory up to 200GB via microSD card slot.
Also, Lumia 550 offers a plethora of connectivity options including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, microUSB 2.0 and FM Radio. It's also worth mentioning that the handset is powered by a 2,100 mAh battery, which is rated for up to 28 days of standby time or up to 16 hours of talk time.
