14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft rolled out a Groove Music app update during the weekend that provided us with a quick look at what Project NEON could look like when it goes live in Windows 10 Redstone 3, and now another app gets the facelift that so many users seem to love these days.
The Movies & TV app received a new update today that brings some visual improvements expected to be part of Project NEON, including blur and translucency all over the place.
As you can see in this screenshot published by Vitor Mikaelson and in the pic at the end of article that we took after installing the latest version, Movies & TV comes with blur in the header of each video page, allowing us to see what’s behind the window. On the other hand, some other improvements would really be helpful, including the same visual effects for the sidebar.
Coming in Redstone 3
Project NEON is a set of improvements expected to see daylight with the introduction of Windows 10 Redstone 3 in the summer, but Microsoft is already working on introducing part of the visual effects into its existing applications.
This helps the company pioneer the introduction of this visual makeover and provide developers with a glimpse into how their apps could look if they embrace this new design language.
Project NEON is mostly based on blur and translucency, and many consider it to be a modern interpretation of Aero Glass, a set of visual effects that was introduced with Windows 7 in 2009. Aero was later abandoned when Microsoft introduced Windows 8 with a completely flat look, but it looks like the company is now trying to develop a mix that would also include the visual effects that users loved so much in the past year.
The first Redstone 3 builds should become available for users shortly after the debut of the Windows 10 Creators Update on April 11, while bigger changes are due in the summer.
