Microsoft has officially unveiled the brand-new Surface Pro 9, a new device that looks similar to its predecessor but which comes with both Intel and ARM processors.

The Surface Pro 9 can be equipped with various Intel processors, depending on its target. For example, the consumer version of the device can be fitted either with an Intel Core 1235U or an Intel Core i7-1235U, while the commercial flavor aimed at enterprises runs on either Intel Core i5-1245U Intel Core i7-1265U.

The ARM version is powered by Microsoft’s SQ 3 custom ARM chip and comes with 5G support for permanent Internet access.

When it comes to memory, the base Surface Pro 9 features 8GB of RAM, while the top unit comes with 32GB. The ARM version can be fitted with either 8GB or 16GB RAM.

As far as the storage is concerned, the lowest you can get is 128GB, while the top-of-the-range model is available with 1TB.

The Surface Pro 9 no longer has a headphone jack, but when it comes to connectivity, the device features the signature Surface Connect port and 2 USB-C ports.

The standard version is available from $999, while the ARM configuration costs $1,299.

“With incredible levels of quality, performance and versatility, the edge-to-edge display on Surface Pro 9 is stunning. With up to 120Hz refresh rate and a wide range of colors, visual stories are true to life. Underneath the display is an HD camera, Omnisonic speakers, directional microphones and our custom G6 chip that takes inking to the next level with tactile signals. Combined with the new Ink Focus in Microsoft OneNote, or the new GoodNotes app coming in early 2023 to Windows 11, digital ink on the screen feels like writing with pen and paper,” Microsoft announced.

The device will go on sale on October 25 in the United States and other large markets.
