Microsoft has recently announced an LTE version of the Surface Go, the company’s smallest and cheapest Surface model to date.

The Surface Go with LTE is already available for pre-order from Microsoft’s official website, and shipments are projected to begin on November 20.

Pricing starts at $679 for consumers, while businesses have to pay $729 for the same configuration with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. However, the latter will also get a second version of the Surface Go with LTE which comes with 256GB storage for $829.

Microsoft says the United States and Canada will be the first countries to get on November 20, while 21 other markets will follow with a pre-order program sometime next week.

Despite being available for consumers, the Surface Go with LTE is primarily aimed at businesses, and Microsoft makes this very clear in its official announcement. The company says the Surface Go with LTE eliminates the reliance on Wi-Fi at a jobsite or on a client’s home Wi-Fi network and makes tethering unnecessary.

“Surface Go with LTE Advanced devices also are great for organizational management and security. For example, removing field worker dependency on guest Wi-Fi reduces security risks from unsecured networks. LTE connected devices make it easier for IT administrators to manage rolling out business-critical updates and new device deployments,” Microsoft explains.

Microsoft Surface Go comes with a 10-inch PixelSense display with 1800 x 1200 (217 PPI) resolution and 3:2 aspect ratio. The device is available with either 64GB eMMC storage or 128GB SSD.

Power comes from an Intel Pentium Gold Processor 4415Y, whose performance is rather questionable given this a Surface model that’s supposed to offer uncompromised experience. However, the Surface Go is primarily aimed at running simple tasks and not demanding processes that would otherwise be more appropriate for being performed on a more expensive Surface model, like the Surface Pro 6.
