14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft announced Surface Plus and Surface Plus for Business, two new financing programs that are supposed to enable more customers to purchase the company’s Surface devices with monthly payments and supported device upgrades.
Specifically aimed at consumers, Surface Plus is a program that offers a 24-month payment plan at 0 percent APR similar to the typical smartphone contracts that you get these days from carriers.
The program allows device upgrades after just 18 months, but Microsoft says that the model you trade in must be in good condition, most likely as the company wants to sell the units as refurbished at a lower price.
Additionally, customers opting for this program also benefit from service and support from Microsoft Stores, but also with access to the Microsoft Complete extended service plan. And last but not least, there’s a 30-day return policy, along with a Surface training program and a year of free store support and technical assistance.
All models included in the program
For enterprises, Microsoft is offering Surface Plus for Business, an upgraded program which supports multiple Surface models into a single agreement, a 55-inch Surface Hub, Office 365 for Business, and more flexible terms with up to 30-month periods offered. Devices can be upgraded after just 12 months.
And last but not least, enterprises are getting device protection with Microsoft Complete for Business extended service plan with accidental damage protection.
Both programs include all devices that are currently part of the Microsoft Surface lineup, such as the Surface Laptop, Surface Pro, Surface Book and Surface Studio. Enterprises are also getting a 55-inch Surface Hub that’s only available as part of the Surface Plus for Business program.
Unfortunately, the new program is only available in the United States. It kicked off on August 1 and interested customers can purchase Surface models though the program at Microsoft stores or on the online store.
