Redmond’s gearing up for the big launch on July 29

Windows 10’s launch is just around the corner and as promised, Microsoft kicked off the global advertising campaign for the new operating system with the first video available online.

Called “The future starts now,” and promoting a new slogan, “Windows 10, more human way to do,” the ad uses kids to promote the touch capabilities of the software, with Microsoft trying to suggest that touch has always been a more intuitive way to work on a computer, despite the full control offered by a mouse and keyboard.

Needless to say, several Windows 10 features are highlighted in the video, including Windows Hello and the annotations options bundled into Microsoft Edge, but this isn’t at all surprising given the fact that Microsoft needs to make people aware of the new features as fast as possible before the July 29 launch.

“To bring the campaign to life, we see young children from around the world in their natural settings in Morocco, Thailand, Iceland, England and the U.S.,” the Windows team explained today.

“Supporting our mission of empowering every person and organization to achieve more, the ads show how technology should be more natural, human and intuitive, and adapt to people’s needs. The key notion – Windows 10 delivers a more human way to do. Enjoy!”

More ads coming soon

Microsoft promised a multi-million dollar advertising campaign, so this one you see here is just the beginning of a much broader effort that will bring Windows 10 ads pretty much everywhere you look.

As compared to Windows 8, when Microsoft also invested a huge budget to make the OS successor, Windows 10 isn’t getting just a single big launch, but several smaller ones in cities across the world, backed by a campaign called “Upgrade your world” which calls for everyone to benefit from the free upgrade to Windows 10 and install the new OS on computers eligible for the offer in their communities.

Microsoft employees too will join this effort and on July 29 will take a day off to upgrade their communities, but expect many more Windows 10 news in the coming weeks as we get closer to the big launch.
