New stable version of the Android launcher released

Microsoft has released a new version of Microsoft Launcher for Android, as it completed the testing process of the beta build shipped last month.

Microsoft Launcher 5.3 comes with a series of major improvements for Android devices, including a redesign of the time and weather widget.

As explained in the official changelog of the beta, version 5.3 of the Microsoft Launcher comes with support for multiple sizes and styles, while also allowing users to configure more than just one location.

“Now you can have multiple widgets in multiple sizes in multiple styles for multiple locations! Also check out the updated and more detailed L2 page with hourly and 10 day forecast,” Microsoft says in the changelog.

New font and support for technology news

There are more widget refinements in this version, and Microsoft notes that it included additional tweaks for the home screen, the dock, and the search widget.

One of the improvements that I like the most is the addition of a technology news category in the app. As you probably know if you are a long-time Microsoft Launcher user, the built-in news module missed support for the tech category, so with this update, the software giant finally resolves this unexpected mishap.

Microsoft Launcher 5.3 changes the font type from Segoe UI to Roboto and replaces the beta community link in settings to point users to the Microsoft Tech Community. This is because in the original versions of Microsoft Launcher, the beta link led to Google Plus, a service that is no longer available for consumers.

You can download Microsoft Launcher APK for Android using this link. A new beta is expected shortly with many more features, while the next stable release should land in just a few weeks after the testing process comes to an end.
