Microsoft has released a new update for the stable version of its Android launcher, bringing the app to version 5.1.1.

The new Microsoft Launcher update includes only fixes and no new features, but users are recommended to install it anyway, as more under-the-hood optimizations are likely to be included.

According to the official changelog, in addition to the typical bug fixes that are part of each release, Microsoft Launcher 5.1.1 comes with consent for the location-based service Terms of Conditions for the Korean market.

Other than that, there doesn’t seem to be any noticeable change in this update, though as I said, you should install it anyway because it may refine your overall experience with the app.

Meanwhile, Microsoft keeps working on new features as part of the beta build of the launcher as well, and registered users can try out new versions in advance. This is only recommended for tech-savvy users who understand the risks of running unreleased software, especially if they install Microsoft Launcher on their main devices.

New features in Microsoft Launcher

Microsoft Launcher has evolved to become one of the top launchers for Android in the Google Play Store, having more than 10 million downloads in the Store alone. The overall download count is likely much higher, especially because it includes installs from other sources, like the standalone APK installer.

The latest major release is version 5.0, and it brought quite a lot of new features, including support for Sticky Notes, the super-popular application that is offered on Windows 10 PCs. This way, users can sync their notes between desktop computers and mobile devices, and always have them a few taps away wherever they go.

Other new features include a screen time tool that shows how much you’ve been using the device, along with detailed information for each application that was launched on the phone recently.
