Yet another ad puts the Surface in a good light

Microsoft positions the Surface Pro 4 as a rival to Apple’s MacBook, although this isn’t entirely accurate, as the Surface is a 2-in-1 device, while its supposed competitor is a laptop by all means.

And yet, this doesn’t stop the software giant from posting ads making fun of MacBook’s limited capabilities every once in a while, and today it’s one of those days when a new video goes live.

This time, however, Microsoft’s fully focused on the Surface Pen which, thanks to the touchscreen available on the Surface Pro 4, allows users to easily write or draw on the display just like on a regular tablet, but with superior precision.

Microsoft uses this feature to show that MacBook offers compromised experience as compared to its own model, and it does it in a rather amusing way.

The Surface Pro 5

In the meantime, Microsoft is also working on getting ready the Surface Pro 5, the next-generation model that was initially expected to debut later this year. Basically, the Surface Pro 5 was supposed to come with improvements to all the capabilities that Microsoft is highlighting in these ads, so expect to see a better keyboard, an improved display, but also a new pen.

Although launching the Surface Pro 5 in October, exactly one year after the introduction of the previous model, would really make sense, the latest rumor claims that Microsoft is actually planning to hold back the release until 2017.

While a clear reason for this decision isn’t yet available, it’s believed that Microsoft will introduce a Surface PC this year during a press conference where partners will also unveil their devices.

As a result, Microsoft is planning a second hardware event in the spring of 2017, when the firm could take the wraps off the new-generation Surface Book, Surface Pro, and Microsoft Band.
