The new Windows 10 smartphone unveiled by Microsoft earlier this month aren't yet available on the market, but they are likely to hit shelves in November.

Obviously, we're talking about Microsoft's high-end smartphones, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, which will be available for purchase globally through the company's official stores.

If you're a Windows Phone newcomer, Microsoft has you covered, as the Redmond-based company is now letting potential customers know how good the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL cameras are in comparison with other flagship smartphones available on the market.

First of all, both smartphones come with 20-megapixel PureView rear-facing cameras, which feature advanced BSI sensor, F1.9 Carl Zeiss optics, triple-LED natural flash, 5th generation OIS (optical image stabilization), and 4K video recording.

In the front, Lumia 950/Lumia 950 XL pack 5-megapixel wide-angle secondary camera for state-of-the-art selfies and video calls.

If these specs don't tell you anything, then you should know that Microsoft confirmed its engineers have worked hard on the devices' image processing software, so you should expect them to be able to produce the most beautiful photos.

According to Microsoft, the pictures taken with these Windows 10 smartphones look really vivid, but still realistic. Also, the cameras should produce less noise or artifacts than any other smartphone on the market.

Both Lumia smartphones include very advanced technologies that allow them to take decisions for the user if he/she doesn't know how to manually adjust the various settings available to them.

The LED flash is great for taking daylight pictures as well

The triple-LED (red, green, blue) natural flash is another innovative aspect about the Lumia 950/950 XL cameras, since it can match automatically the colors of the ambient light.

“This means that if you’re taking a photo outside at twilight, the flash will produce a blue light to complement the bluish color of the scene, and if you’re taking a photo of a candlelit dinner, the flash will adjust to expose candlelight,” explains Microsoft.

But the LED flash works great in daylight too since it features natural colors. Furthermore, in Rich Capture mode, users will be able to change the amount of light in a photo after the image is taken.

Basically, the camera captures two photos, one with flash and another without, so you can choose which you wish to keep. This feature is called Dynamic Flash.

Other features included in these cameras include 3rd-generation living images, a unified Windows 10 Camera and Photos experience, support for raw capture and many more.
