The first build could be released to insiders soon

Windows 10 Mobile is not here yet, but Microsoft is reportedly working on what's coming after the stable version of the mobile operating system sometime in 2016.

Redstone, which is believed to be the first update for Windows 10, will arrive on both PCs and smartphones, and now there's evidence that Microsoft is internally testing an early build specifically developed for mobile devices.

BuildFeed has recently spotted the first mobile build part of the Redstone branch, with the full string said to be 10.0.11082.1000.rs1_release.151210-2021. This is believed to be the internally tested version of this early build, so expect insiders to receive an updated version in the coming weeks or even months.

Up until now, there's absolutely no indication as to when Microsoft could start rolling out Windows 10 Mobile Redstone preview builds to insiders, but it's believed this could happen after the company pushes the final tidbits of the operating system to Windows Phone devices.

This is projected to start later this month, so with a little luck, the Redstone update could be here in preview form for both PCs and smartphones by the end of the year.

Little is known about what Redstone could bring on mobile devices, but it's believed the update could push Continuum one step further and improve its app support.

Currently, Continuum only works with universal apps, but rumor has it that Microsoft is working to add support for Win32 software too, so Redstone could actually be the first OS version to include such an option.

According to previous reports, Redstone should debut on PCs in the summer of 2016, but now that Microsoft has synced desktop and mobile versions, the mobile version could receive the update at the same time.

In the meantime, take everything with a pinch of salt because there's nothing confirmed on the Redstone update so far.

Thank for the tip, Steve Truman!
