Microsoft has fixed three critical bugs in Windows 10 May 2019 Update, also lifting the upgrade blocks that prevented devices potentially encountering them from installing the feature update.

First of all, Microsoft has addressed the audio problems with Dolby Atmos headphones and home theater.

Microsoft says that installing Windows 10 May 2019 Update on some devices could have led to the loss of audio due to a licensing configuration error when installing Dolby Atmos for home theater or Dolby Atmos for headphones extensions from the Microsoft Store.

“This occurs due to an issue with a Microsoft Store licensing component, where license holders are not able to connect to the Dolby Access app and enable Dolby Atmos extensions,” Redmond explains..

The second issue concerns USB peripherals connected to a device that is updated to Windows 10 version 1903. The bug, which mostly affected external USB devices or attached memory cards, caused the update to fail with error “This PC can’t be upgraded to Windows 10” and was generated by inappropriate drive reassignment during installation.

Upgrade blocks lifted

And last but not least, a third bug breaking down the functionality of the Dynabook Smartphone Link app on Windows 10 after installing version 1903 has also been resolved.

“Some users may experience a loss of functionality after updating to Windows 10, version 1903 when using the Dynabook Smartphone Link application on Windows devices. Loss of functionality may affect the display of phone numbers in the Call menu and the ability to answer phone calls on the Windows PC,’ Microsoft explains.

All three issues are now listed as resolved on July 11, and Microsoft says it has removed the upgrade blocks, meaning that devices that weren’t previously allowed to install the May 2019 Update due to these problems can now safely update from Windows Update.
