No known issues available in the latest updates

Windows 10 users learned the hard way that installing cumulative updates when they are released isn’t necessarily the best idea, as the experience with them is often like a crazy roller coaster ride.

While cumulative updates are supposed to fix bugs and patch security bugs, they sometimes do more harm than good, failing to install repeatedly or breaking down other OS features.

Fortunately, this wasn’t the case with the February 2019 Patch Tuesday cumulative updates published on the 12th, despite these updates themselves coming with a bunch of known issues.

As I reported a few days ago, Microsoft acknowledged three different problems in the February 2019 cumulative updates, and thanks to the February 19 release, they’re all fixed.

First of all, keep in mind that we’re talking about two different sets of cumulative updates here: February 12 and February 19. The February 12 rollout landed on Patch Tuesday and was specifically focused on resolving security vulnerabilities. The February 19 is all about fixing bugs that have nothing to do with security.

All known issues fixed

So this second rollout resolves all known issues in the latest cumulative updates, as mentioned in the official changelog:

· Addresses an issue that may prevent Internet Explorer from loading images that have a backslash (\) in their relative source path.
· Addresses an issue that fails to recognize the first character of the Japanese era name as an abbreviation and may cause date parsing issues.
· Addresses an issue that may cause applications that use a Microsoft Jet database with the Microsoft Access 95 file format to randomly stop working.
And while the issues are resolved now, the fixes are only aimed at Windows 10 version 1803 (April 2018 Update) and older. Microsoft hasn’t yet released a new cumulative update with this fixes for version 1809 (October 2018 Update), but I think the company is getting ready to begin testing these improvements with help from insiders and release a public patch soon.

The fixes are available in the following cumulative updates:

February 19, 2019—KB4487029 (OS Build 17134.619)
February 19, 2019—KB4487021 (OS Build 16299.1004)
February 19, 2019—KB4487011 (OS Build 15063.1659)
February 19, 2019—KB4487006 (OS Build 14393.2828)
