Microsoft has just announced that its Surface Book laptop is now available for pre-order in select European markets, with sales to officially begin in the coming weeks.

While the company hasn’t provided any specifics on the start of the sales, the company has mentioned that Austria, Australia, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, and New Zealand are the European and non-European markets getting the Surface Book, while very soon, the device should make its debut in India as well.

Pricing for the device obviously depends on the market and the local taxes, but it’s worth noting that the 1 TB version of the Surface Book, which will soon start shipping in the United States, is not yet available for pre-order on the Old Continent.

“Incredible holiday” sales

The Surface Book was announced by Microsoft at the company’s hardware event on October 6 and went on sale in the United States later the same month.

But despite the rather limited availability, the company says that early sales of the device have so far been unexpected.

“Our Windows 10 devices also had an incredible holiday, led by strong demand for Xbox One, Surface Pro and Surface Book. In fact, 2015 was the biggest year in Xbox history - with Xbox One setting record global engagement and sales,” Microsoft explained.

The Surface Book laptop comes with a 13.5-inch display and is powered by 6th generation Intel Core processors (i5 or i7, depending on the selected version) while also featuring up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage space. A more expensive version with dedicated NVIDIA graphics is also available.

The device runs Windows 10 Pro and also comes with support for the latest-generation Surface Pen, which allows you to easily draw or write on the Surface Book when detaching the keyboard and using it as a tablet.
