Redmond says it’s now contacting affected customers

Microsoft presented the Surface Book on October 6, and the device is already available for pre-order, with preliminary signs showing quite surprising success for the company’s first-ever laptop.

But while many have rushed to pre-order the device, some have discovered that their pre-order was suddenly cancelled after their banks mistakenly flagged the payment as fraud. While some managed to get in touch with Microsoft and re-enter credit card details to continue processing the payments, others had no such option and got their pre-order canceled.

This means that, if they still want to buy the Surface Book, they lost their queue number, so a new waiting time of at least a couple of weeks is very likely.

Everyone getting the Surface Book on time

But that’s not the case, as a Microsoft store representative has told us in a mailed statement that the company is now getting in touch with each and every impacted customer to see if they still want to purchase a Surface Book and re-enter their credit card details. What’s more, everyone impacted by this problem will get their laptops in time, so they won’t have to wait any longer, Microsoft promises.

“As we are processing and shipping the previously placed Surface Book pre-orders, some needed to have order details re-entered to properly process the transaction. We will be contacting impacted customers, and should they wish to keep their order, it will be shipped within a few days of being re-entered,” the statement we have received reads.

Obviously, shipping times for the Surface Book are very likely to increase as more customers place a pre-order, and given the huge demand that the company has to cope with, it’s no wonder that, for the 1TB version, you must wait until early 2016.

And yet, it’s a good thing to see Microsoft working to solve issues that customers are experiencing without them being directly involved, so if the company calls or emails you these days, make sure you provide an answer if you still want the Surface Book.
