Microsoft has just updated the stable version of Edge browser for Android, this time introducing a bunch of new features that were previously available as part of the beta builds.

Microsoft Edge, which was originally developed to be a Windows 10-exclusive, is now available on both iOS and Android, but the application is improved at a much faster pace on the latter. The company ships updates for both the stable and the beta versions of Edge regularly, most of them bringing worthy new features and improvements.

This time, version 1.0.0.1561 comes with features that were introduced in the beta builds released by Microsoft earlier this month, but since it’s a stable build, all Android users can download them without having to worry about bugs or other performance issues.

Better support for Android Oreo

First and foremost, this new version of Microsoft Edge come with a new reading mode experience that should make it a lot easier to read long articles on your phone. There’s support for sharing links and text from other apps to Microsoft Edge, a feature that’s been available for a long time in other browsers like Google Chrome.

With this feature you can easily open links in Edge browser from any other Android app using just the share menu, so you no longer need to copy and paste the content manually.

And last but not least, Microsoft Edge now features support for Android 8 Oreo adaptive icons, which means that with this release, the browser is finally ready for Google’s latest Android version that’s now being rolled out to devices across the world.

Users who have already installed the browser should receive the update automatically, but you can also download Microsoft Edge APK from Softpedia using this link. Further updates to the beta version are expected to land in the coming weeks with new features and more improvements.
