Microsoft has released a new Dev version of the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser, bringing the app to version 76.0.159.0 on Windows 10.

This new build comes with a plethora of improvements, including new features, like the “Save as” option added to the toolbar of the PDF viewer.

Furthermore, Microsoft added a “Copy download link” option to the context menu of downloaded items, while the options for canceled downloads no longer show a list of disabled items.

There are also plenty of fixes in this update, and Microsoft has fixed crashes related to tooltips and when navigating back to history search results.

Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser

At this point, the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge is still a work in progress, and officially, the preview version is only available on Windows 10.

Unofficially, on the other hand, the same builds that were exclusive to Windows 10 can be used to install the new browser on Windows 7 as well. Additionally, a leaked version of Microsoft Edge for Mac is also available for download, and Microsoft is also believed to be working on a Linux version too.

As for the ETA when Microsoft Edge is supposed to reach the beta development stage and then launch as a stable browser, no specifics are available in this regard, albeit Microsoft clearly wants to take its time to get this app right.

Given the Chromium engine, Microsoft Edge will be able to run on Windows 10, older Windows, macOS, and possibly Linux too. The browser already exists on Android and iOS, so Microsoft Edge would technically become a fully-featured rival to Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, which right now are the top browsers worldwide.
