Microsoft promised to make the Windows Store the one destination for everything in Windows 10, and the app has been gradually revamped to include more categories of products with every major update.

The latest section to be added to the Windows Store appears to be hardware, as Surface models and accessories have been spotted in the Windows 10 app, though not yet visible to public users.

Opening the Surface device category in the Windows Store requires launching the direct link in a browser, which in turn fires up the Store app right to the new section. You can browse Surface models and accessories, pick a configuration and should a payment method be configured buy the selected device without having to open the Microsoft Store page.

Most likely, Microsoft will include this new feature in a future Windows Store update for everyone, as it wants to make the Surface lineup available to as many buyers as possible, obviously in those markets where the devices can be purchased.

Non-Microsoft devices also coming to the Windows Store?

For the time being, however, it’s not yet clear if Microsoft wants to expand the hardware section of the Windows Store beyond its own devices, but for now, only Surface models appear to be included.

The new Windows Store update is also living proof that Microsoft is still committed to devices, despite rumors that the company could give up on Surface and focus entirely on software and services.

Microsoft’s Panos Panay himself denied all these rumors, describing them as tabloid news and expressing the firm’s love for the Surface lineup which keeps expanding with new models. After launching a traditional laptop and an all-in-one PC, Microsoft is now said to be looking into a new form factor that could represent the company’s new mobile device.

Currently in development phase, this project could be a modern flavor of the original Courier, allowing for digital notes to be written down just like on a piece of paper.
