HP Envy printers don’t seem to work correctly in Windows 10

If you’ve already upgraded your computer to Windows 10 and tried to print a document using your HP Envy printer, you’ve probably noticed that, in many cases, the process is either impossible or fails to work with various errors.

The good part is that you’re not alone, but the bad part is that the workaround is a several-step process that involves removing and reinstalling the printer drivers.

In Windows 10, most of the issues seem to be related to bad drivers, and this is no exception, with Microsoft confirming that users are coming across problems when trying to print with HP Envy.

In a post on the company’s Community forums, which has been made sticky - a sign that many users are actually experiencing this problem - Microsoft says that it’s all because of the drivers and recommends those impacted to remove and reinstall the software.

How to fix it

CBGrant, a Microsoft employee, points to an MSDN page where detailed steps on how to reinstall drivers are offered, trying to make sure that everyone figures out how to do it until a full patch is included in the OS. The very same steps are available right after the jump here.

“After upgrading to Windows 10, you may receive a notification that your HP ENVY e-All-in-One printer has failed to install. To successfully complete the installation, you must remove and reinstall the software and printer after the Windows 10 upgrade as outlined in the procedures below,” Microsoft explains in the steps above.

Fortunately, this workaround does seem to fix all problems with HP Envy printers, but there’s no doubt that Microsoft must include a fix in Windows 10, especially because not everyone has the time and skills to mess with drivers and reinstall them whenever something goes wrong with the printer.

Hopefully, a patch will be offered in a future Windows update, so in the meantime, these steps are the only way to solve the glitch.
