14 DAY TRIAL // We're less than three weeks away from Windows 10 Mobile's official release, and Microsoft has just published the list of recommended specs for all upcoming devices powered by the new version of the operating system.
These recommended specs are aimed at Microsoft's OEM partners, which will release new smartphones with this list in mind.
As NPU points out, Microsoft has categorized smartphones in Value Phones, Value Phablets and Premium Phones. Depending on specs, they can be classified in one of the three tiers mentioned earlier.
There are no details on pricing options, but judging by the name of these categories, it's easy to identify which ones will be cheaper and which will make you break the bank.

“A typical smartphone combines cellular connectivity, a touch screen, rechargeable power source, and other components into a single chassis. Windows 10 Mobile can support a wide range of small form factors devices,” says Microsoft.
LTE and microSD card support for all Windows 10 Mobile handsets
There are features these three categories have in common, such as LTE support, Windows 10 Mobile, and microSD card slot for memory expansion.
Value Phones should come with 1GB of RAM and either 4GB or 8GB of storage, while Value Phablets should pack 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. On the other hand, Premium Phones could come with 2-4GB RAM and 32-64GB of storage.
Both Value Phablets and Premium Phones will featuret support for Windows Hello, but only the latter will also feature Continuum for Phones.
Camera-wise, Premium Phones will boast 20-megapixel cameras with OIS/flash, whereas Value Phones and Value Phablets will come with 5-megapixel cameras.
